Himalayan Environment Research Institute (HERI) is a non-profit, Non Governmental organization (NGO) established in 2014 for the betterment of the Himalayan Environment. This organization is based on the research output and also serves for the scientific community in understanding the different possesses in the environment and the ecosystem of the region.
HERI is registered as an NGO at Kathmandu District Administration Office and Social Welfare Council Nepal in 2014. The registration number of HERI is 295/070/071.
Atmospheric pollutants circulations may impose a serious impact on human and ecosystem health in the Himalayan region. In order to investigate and understand the atmospheric deposition in the soil, water, air, ice and their interactions with human and ecosystems in the southern slope of the Himalayas, HERI plays an important role. The team of young and experienced scientists in the broad field of environmental and atmospheric sciences are enrolled in this organization which is a need for the future of the Himalayas. The study and researches in the Himalayan region is limited and there is a need for systematic research to better understand the fragile Himalayan environment. This organization is research based organization and aims to bring scientific results and database to understand the various subjects in the field of environment in the focused region.
